What kind of artwork is required for a custom product?
To ensure high quality printing we prefer are to be in a vector format in Adobe Illustrator saved as an ai, pdf, or eps file. When the artwork is saved as an image (jpeg, psd, tiff, or gif) to get the best quality print, the image should be saved at 300 dpi at a scale of 1:10 (1in. = 10in.) to acquire the best quality print.
What if I don’t have a vector file?
If you do not have a vector file to produce your flag, we can convert most electronic files you provide into vector format for a small fee.
What materials do you print on?

Why are flags made out of different materials?
Many people use flags for a variety of different purposes. Some flags are used for outdoor display, other for memorial purposes, and other for indoor display. Depending on the use of your flag will determine the best fabric recommended. Please contact one of our local sales representatives for further recommendations.
What is the difference between single reverse flags and double-sided flags?
Single Reverse Flags display properly on the front side with a reversed or mirror image on the back. These flags are recommended for longer wear and flying ability.
Double-Sided flags are constructed by sewing two single reverse flags back-to-back.
What is the difference between flagpole finishes?
Brushed Satin is a textured mechanical finish produced by abrasive polishing yielding a smooth and uniform appearance. This finish is used mainly on residential flagpoles.
Clear/Bronze Anodized uses a process of electrolysis to obtain its finishes. These finishes are highly recommended in coastal areas and are perfect matches for many building skins and is preferable for commercial use.
What is the difference between a nylon flag and a polyester flag?
Polyester is designed for areas where chemical pollutants or severe weather conditions are present. The high strength and low moisture absorption enable it to be the best wearing flag today.
Nylon is the most versatile fabric available. The combination of strength and lustrous beauty, along with its quick drying ability, make it suitable for a wide range of applicants. Its light weight and close weave enable it to fly in the slightest breeze.

All of our flags are proudly made in the USA. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
When can I fly the USA flag?
Our national flag should be displayed on all days that weather will not be of any danger to the flag. This not only shows respect for our national symbol, but also prolongs the life of the flag.
The flag should be flown from sunrise to sunset on buildings or on a stationary flagpole in the open. The flag should be properly illuminated with a spotlight if flown at night
When do I display the USA flag at half staff?
Memorial Day the flag should be flown at half staff from sunrise until noon on Memorial Day. It is flown at full staff for the remainder of the day.
In the event of a death of Principal Figures of the United States government, governor of the state, territory, or possession, the President may order the flag to be flown at half-staff as respect for their memory.
Also, the governor of the state may proclaim that the flag be flown at half-staff in the event of the death of a president, or former official of the state, territory or possession.
What size flag is appropriate for my flagpole?
The length of the flagpole and the number of flags being flow simultaneously on that pole determine the appropriate flag size for display outdoors or in a business setting. When flying multiple flags on the same flagpole, the lower flag(s) should either be the same size or one size smaller than the main flag.
Does my USA flag need to be illuminated?
If displayed at night, the flag must be properly illuminated. Proper
illumination means that the stars and stripes can be seen readily from a
reasonable distance.
Flags on poles generally require a dedicated light. Flags on a residential
porch may require only ambient lighting, such as a porch or street light.
How do I clean my flag?
Synthetic material flags such as nylon or polyester may be machine washed with cold water and mild detergent. These flags should be placed flat to dry. Natural fiber flags should be handled with greater care. We suggest spot cleaning or dry-cleaning. Still not sure how do clean your flag? Bring it in and we will clean your flag for a small fee.
How long does a flag typically last?
There is no exact answer. The US Government generally expects a nylon or polyester flag to last approximately 90 days, based on daily usage from sunrise to sunset – but not during periods of inclement weather. Tests have shown that in some cases a flag flown 24 hours a day will last only one-fourth as long as one flown during daylight hours only.
To extend the life of your flag, please take it down at night and during poor weather conditions.
My flag is starting to fray, what can I do?
Fraying at the ends of flags is typical. If caught early, the flag can be repaired. All flags purchased from Gardner & Martin qualify for free repairs. Simply bring or ship your flag back to us. Once the flag is deemed repairable, we will sew the flag back into flying condition.
What is the proper way to retire my USA flag?
Most American Legion Posts regularly conduct a dignified flag burning ceremony, often on Flag Day, June 14th. Many Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops, and Girl Scout Troops retire flags regularly as well. Contact your local American Legion Hall or Scout Troop to inquire about the availability of this service.
